I'm Featured! Follow Friday (38)

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

I'm being featured over on Alison Can Read! I'd appreciate it if you'd follow via Bloglovin'.

When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in July of 2011.
What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Interacting with other readers and authors. I've read so many books that I wouldn't have found otherwise!
What type of books do you mainly blog about?
Anything YA but I mainly read and review paranormal, dystopian, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, etc. I'm not a big fan of realistic fiction.
What is your favorite book(s)?
The impossible question! I can't choose just one. However, I will read anything by Libba Bray, Maggie Stiefvater, John Green, and Lauren DeStefano.
What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
Meeting all these wonderful people! I recently started a blogger interview series and I've been communicating with other bloggers who are just all around lovely people! Bookish people are the best.
This week's question:
What book (or TV show or movie) have you not read that seemingly everyone else has?
Percy Jackson and Vampire Academy. Especially Percy Jackson. It. Is. Everywhere. I've thought about reading both series, but I have to say that I have absolutely no interest in Vampire Academy. Sorry! Anyone who's read either series, is it worth it?

  3. Congrats on being a featured blogger. How exciting. My wife thinks I should read the Percy Jackson series but I haven't gotten around to reading it or seeing the movies. Maybe someday.

  6. Congrats on being featured!! I have to say that I do enjoy both series a ton for entirely different reasons. If you enjoy Harry Potter...Percy Jackson was a close series that was a lot of fun and a whole lot better as books than the movies that were made for them. As far as Vampire Academy. I incredibly enjoyed the series as they got further along, but the first one was a little hard for me to get through. New Bloglovin follower :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  8. Congrats on the feature! :) I definitely recommend Percy Jackson, especially if you're a fan of mythology. Rick Riordan does it awesomely. I am also not someone who has read VA (no real interest), so don't feel alone! Old follower.

  13. Discovering new books, and even genres is my favorite part of blogging too! I would have never given dystopian novels a chance, and it turns out I really like them.

  21. Congrats on being featured! To answer your question: YES Vampire Academy is soooo worth it! I absolutely love it. I've only read the first Percy Jackson book so I can't say much about it except that I did enjoy The Lightning Thief as well.

  24. Congrats on being a featured blogger this week!! GASP - you haven't read VA?!?! That's like committing book blogging sin.... haha, I'm kidding (slightly). Really great series! Huge fan! As for Percy Jackson - I read the first 3 with my son and actually enjoyed them. He is 11 and LOVES all things written by Rick Riordan. But those type books are really my preferred genre.

  25. YAY!!! so glad to see you as one of the features. I love anything YA too... I used to not be into realistic fiction but there are some really good ones out there that changed my mind. Percy Jackson and Vampire Academy are both wondeful series. you should check them out. old follower.

  26. Congrats on being featured! I haven't read PJ either although I saw the first movie... kinda intrigued by the concept so I should give em a try. I've heard the books are much better than the movies...

  27. I've read them both and loved them both. Percy Jackson is what got my oldest son into reading. Great for both kids and adults. VA I had put off for a while, until the Bloodlines series came out, then finally started them. They're great, and I like the new series even better.

  28. I'm the same on both series. I remember debating about Vampire Academy when it first came out but never picked it up. I might read it just for the movies sake. Or I might just see movie.

  29. I have read both and I was really surprised by The Percy Jackson books. I had gotten them for my son from the library and finished my books and started on those. I like to read what they're into anyway.
    I was hooked, no joke!
I waited to get my hands on The Last Olympian like I was waiting for a fix!
    It was really good!

And as for Vampire Academy. That series is one I love though I think the movie looks to be a far cry from the books.
To me it's a different spin on vampire.
And what Rose and Dimitri go through. It's EPIC!
Anyways to each their own! But it wouldn't disappoint!

I actually haven't read that series either. My niece keeps trying to talk me into reading, but YA series are a hit or miss for me...though mostly a miss lately

  34. Congrats on being featured!!

So I haven't read Vampire Academy yet, though it's definitely on my TBR - I've had so many recommendations. I have read all the Percy Jackson books (including the spin of series) and enjoyed them. They start of having a Harry Potter feel and then morph into something truly original. Not earth shattering, but enjoyable fun books IMO. Happy Friday :-)

  35. I have read the first book of Percy Jackson a few years ago, but I never really had the urge to continue the series. I don't know why. I have finished the Vampire Academy, and for me, it's a great series. :) Congrats for being featured.
